INGREDIENTS
- Tomato 2 small
- Onion 1 small chopped
- Ginger small piece
- Garlic 3 pods
- Dry red chilies 2 nos
- Cashew nuts 3 to 4 nos ( optional )
- Jeera rice 1 cup
- water 1.5 cup
- Ghee 1 tbsp
- Raw garam masala
TO GRIND
Grind tomatoes + ginger + garlic + dry red chilies + cashew nuts into a smooth paste and keep aside
METHOD
- Heat the cooker or pan add ghee
- To that add raw garam masala and saute till it releases aroma
- Now add in the chopped onions and saute till its soft
- To that add the tomato paste and cook till raw smell goes
- Add the soaked and washed rice to the mixture and mix well
- Add sufficient quantity of water and cook ( see notes )
- Tomato rice is ready, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with raita
NOTES:
RICE :WATER RATIO
FOR PRESSURE COOKER : 1 CUP = 1.5 CUP WATER
FOR OPEN VESSEL COOKING: 1 CUP = 2 CUPS WATER
