PICHI POTTA CHICKEN

Pichi Potta chicken / shredded chicken  is a south Indian chicken dry dish very popular in Tamil Nadu. For this recipe first chicken is boiled or slow cooked with mild spices and then pan fried with herbs, spices , onions and coconut. It is served with rice or chapati                                                     
INGREDIENTS
  • Chicken 300 grams           
                                    
  • Onions chopped 1 nos
  • Tomato chopped 1 nos
  • Green chilies 2 nos
  • Ginger 1/2 inch chopped
  • Garlic 3 pods chopped
  • Curry leaves
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Chilly powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder 1-2 tsp 
  • Dry red chilly 2 nos
  • Coconut grated or cut into pieces 1/4 cup
  • Coconut oil 1 tbsp   
  • Salt as required
METHOD:
  1. Boil chicken for two whistles along with garlic and pepper
  2. Once it is boiled shred the chicken pieces without bone and keep aside
  3. Now heat oil in a pan,once its hot add curry leaves and dry red chilly and roast for a min let it not burn 
  4. To that add chopped onions,ginger,garlic, green chilies and saute till the raw smell goes    
  5. Then add in chopped tomatoes and cook till its mushy
  6. Once tomatoes are cooked well add in the shredded chicken and cook on high flame for 2 mins
  7. To this add the masala powders and saute well
  8. Adjust the salt  at this point
  9. Add in the coconut pieces and roast everything on medium flame for around 5 mins 
  10. Finally garnish with little curry leaves and serve it hot   
Serve it hot with Rice or Chapathi
